Army gets new crop of officers, 490 pass from IMA

This year 423 Indian and 67 foreign Gentlemen Cadets (GCs) from 10 friendly foreign countries graduated from the academy.These cadets belonged to 140 Regular,123 Technical Graduate Course and 25 University Entry Scheme (UES)With this course graduating, the total number of cadets passing out of Indian Military Academy till date has gone up to a grand total of 59932, out of which, 2033 are the foreign gentlemen cadets commissioned from IMA.

General Bipin Rawat addressed the gentleman cadets after the parade.

“I congratulate all 423 cadets who became a part of the Indian party and want to thanks the families and friends for sending their children to be a part of this. I hope these new members of the Indian Army will maintain the status and reputation of the Army and will make all of us proud,” General Rawat told media.

Getting nostalgic, Rawat said, "I am reminded of the day when I passed out of the academy almost four decades ago and I can definitely assure you that the bonds which you will form here will last throughout your life. Also remember that you should form strong bonds in your regiments as well, especially with the troops who will be your biggest assets."

The Academy is located in the foothills of the Himalayas, about 8 km west of Dehradun in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand. The campus is on National Highway 72, which separates the North and South Campus.

Built in 1930, the Chetwode Hall on the Drill Square houses the administrative headquarters of the IMA and is also the hub of academic training.

थल सेनाध्यक्ष जनरल बिपिन रावत ने शनिवार को कहा कि महिला आतंकियों का मुकाबला महिला फौजी करेंगी। इसके लिए जल्दी ही सेना में जवान और जेसीओ रैंक में महिलाओं की भर्ती की जाएगी।

महिला सैनिकों की जरूरत
देहरादून स्थित भारतीय सैन्य अकादमी (आईएमए) की पासिंग आउट परेड में बतौर रिव्यूइंग अफसर पहुंचे जनरल बिपिन रावत ने कहा कि सेना को महिला सैनिकों की जरूरत है। अफसर रैंक की महिलाएं सेना में हैं, लेकिन जवान और सरदार साहेबान (जेसीओ) रैंक में भी महिलाओं की जरूरत महसूस हो रही है।

कई बार महिलाएं ढाल बनकर आ जातीं हैं
कश्मीर का जिक्र किए बगैर उन्होंने कहा, कई बार अभियान में सेना को आवाम का सामना करना पड़ता है। इस दौरान कई बार महिलाएं हमारे सामने ढाल बनकर आ जाती हैं। उन पर कार्रवाई करने में पुरुष जवान झिझक जाते हैं। इसलिए जरूरी है कि हमारे पास महिला जवान और जेसीओ हों।

नहीं चाहते घरों में घुसकर खोज अभियान चलाएं
जनरल रावत ने कहा, हम नहीं चाहते कि घरों में खोज अभियान चलाकर लोगों को परेशान किया जाए। इसकी जगह आधुनिक तकनीक का इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता है।

कश्मीर के नौजवानों को भड़काया जा रहा
कश्मीर के सवाल पर सेना प्रमुख ने कहा कि कोशिश यही रहेगी कि जो नौजवान गलत रास्ते पर चले गए हैं, वे हथियार डालकर मुख्य धारा में लौटें। चीन के हेलीकॉप्टर भारत सीमा में घुसने के सवाल पर जनरल रावत ने कहा कि हम भी हेलीकॉप्टर इस्तेमाल करते हैं। सीमा पर दोनों देशों के नजरिए में अंतर के चलते कई बार ऐसा लगता है कि दूसरे पक्ष ने सीमा का उल्लंघन किया है।

Among the 423 Indian cadets, 158 have opted for infantry and 85 for artillery. According to sources, the number of vacancies for artillery had been reduced by 25% while those in infantry had seen an equal increase. Six cadets were commissioned into the Army education corps (AEC) which had the

least number of vacancies.

Out of the 423 gentlemen cadets the maximum.74 cadets commissioned as officers into the Indian Army, Uttar Pradesh tops the list of states with the most cadets passing out ,others are as under:-

The Sword of Honour went to Academy Under Officer (AUO) Avinash Chhetry (Tejpur,Asom).He also won the Gold Medal for the GC standing first in the overall order of merit in the course.An alumnus of the Dehradun-based Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC).He had also recieved President Gold Medal while he was in NDA.He also received the honour to command the parades in both the training academies,NDA as well as IMA.Chettry has been commissioned into the 1st Battalion of 9 Gurkha Rifles and Lt Gen A K Bhatt, director-general of military operations (DGMO) and colonel of regiment for 9 Gurkhas was also present to felicitate the newly-commissioned officer.

The Silver Medal went to Vikas Sangwan (Bhiwani,Haryana)for standing second in overall merit.Bronze Medal went to Rohit Joshi(Pihoragarh,Uttrakhand)for standing third in overall merit.TGC Silver Medal went to Akshay Singh Bisht (Dehradun,Uttrakhand).Best Foreign Gentleman Cadet was given to Wilfred Cyprian Lyakurwa of Tajikistan. Chief of Army staff banner was awarded to Singarh Company for standing overall first amongst 16 companies.
