NATIONAL YOUTH PARLIAMENT RASHTRIYA NITI-’17 AT IMS


The third edition of National Youth Parliament ‘Rashtriya Niti- 2017’ was inaugurated on Friday at IMS Unison University. The programme was inaugurated by former lokayukt of Uttarakhand and former Judge of Uttarakhand High Court Justice M M Ghildiyal. 
Speaking on the occasion he told the participants that they are privileged to be exposed to such activities as debates, moot courts and other things. Justice Ghildiyal said that youngsters should also choose politics as one of a career options and competitions like these teach students democracy, equip them with debating skills, stimulate them to present their own thoughts and listen to those of others. “ Such things brings like-minded youngsters on same platform and offers chance for the creation of a community to discuss and come up with the possible solutions,’’ he said.
 In his welcome address, the Dean, School of Law, Dr Brijmohan Dimri emphasized on the need of having greater participation of younger people in political and social affairs. He expressed his concern that only those from political families are joining politics and others do not easily get an opportunity to prove their worth.
The Head School of Law and Director of  ‘Rashtriya Neeti 2017’, Dr Saroj Bohra mentioned that around 170 students from different colleges and Universities Delhi University, Punjab University, Rayat Bahra college, Jaipur University, IP University, Amity University, Aligarh Muslim University, Jaypee Institute of technology, Llyod Law College, Banaras Hindu University, amongst others attended the Youth Parliament competition 2017. She stated that ten cadets of Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun are also participating as delegates.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. R. K. Pandey hoped that the Youth parliament will witness more tolerance and productive work than the disruptions of our actual Parliament.
The Chancellor of the University, Dr M P Jain advised participants to be good listeners in order to contradict their opponents and to set an example of how debates can be held in a cordial manner.
He mentioned that youth parliament is a platform offered to the youngsters where they have been given mock parliament set-up and exposure to the parliamentary type debate.
